2018 Subaru WRX Price and Specs Review | Hazle Township, PA

2018 Subaru WRX

Serving Hazle Township, PA, Kingston, and Wilkes-Barre

Originally a high-performance variant of the compact Impreza car, the WRX was eventually spun off as a standalone model for the 2015 model year. With turbocharged power and standard all-wheel drive, the Subaru WRX provides substantially more performance than what is usually expected from compact sedans. For 2018, Subaru updates the suspension, steering, and front seat design. And there are more driver assistance features this time. The 2018 Subaru WRX is split into base-level, Premium, Limited, STI, and STI Limited trims.

Exterior and Performance

The standard engine on the 2018 Subaru WRX is a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder (H4) with 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. However, the STI trim level (i.e., STI and STI Limited) uses a larger and more powerful 2.5-liter H4, which comes with an output of 305 horsepower 290 lb-ft of torque and has an intercooler to prevent it from overheating. Paired to each engine is a 6-speed manual transmission, with Subaru Intelligent Drive technology added on the STI trims for varying driving feel. Also exclusive to the STI is driver-controlled center differential technology, which accompanies the all-wheel-drive system to control power torque distribution between the front and rear wheels to enhance tire grip with the road.

Interior and Technology

As a compact vehicle, the 2018 Subaru WRX features two rows of seats for accommodating up to five people. Front seating includes a 6-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat, and the rear bench-style seat is foldable for extending cargo space from the trunk into the cabin. Subaru adds front-seat heating ability on the Premium trim and higher. Upgrade to the Limited to transform the driver’s seat with 10-way power adjustability and leather upholstery. The STI trim level has its leather trim upgraded to Ultrasuede® material. Exclusive to the STI Limited are an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat and Recaro® racing-style front seats with red stitching. Passenger volume is measured at up to 96.6 cubic feet, while trunk space is measured at 12 cubic feet.

Base-level comfort and convenience features on the 2018 Subaru WRX include electronic cruise control, six-speaker AM/FM/CD audio, HD Radio, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack for connecting mobile devices, a four-month complimentary subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, and STARLINK™ infotainment integration based on a 6.2-inch LCD touchscreen. Added on the Premium are features like dual USB ports for charging mobile devices, a larger 7-inch touchscreen, and Siri Eyes Free voice activation. The STI trim level has dual-zone automatic climate control, and infotainment is upgraded with 7-inch touchscreen navigation and a nine-speaker 440-watt audio system. A power tilt-and-slide moonroof is added on the Premium, Limited, and STI Limited, and the Limited trim level (i.e., Limited and STI Limited) stands alone with the combination of keyless access and push-button engine start.

2018 Subaru WRX Interior

For restraint and cushioning in the event of a car crash, the 2018 Subaru WRX comes with a driver’s knee airbag, dual front impact airbags, dual front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags. There’s also vehicle stability control, a rear vision camera, active torque vectoring, traction control, daytime running lights, and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist for additional stopping force when needed, electronic brake-force distribution for proper allocation of stopping force to the wheels, and brake override for preventing unwanted acceleration. Starting with the Limited trim, Subaru adds Starlink Safety and Security for services such as automatic collision notification, roadside assistance, and stolen vehicle recovery. The STI trim level gets Brembo® performance-oriented disc brakes for even shorter stopping distances. Exclusive to the STI Limited is blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert.
